Using the EPS

The basics are: set the frequency to 3-4 hz (cycles per second), set intensity to 2 starting off (but often need to increase it depending on skin resistance and dryness. You are the "ground" when using it with a client, so the current flows between where you contact the client with your skin and the tip of the EPS. It works best on superficial muscles if you can generate a motor response because then it is basically contracting and relaxing the muscle 3-4 times per second. In that use, you need to find the motor end plate zone, which is where the motor nerve interfaces with the muscle, which is at the center of the muscle fibers.

It is also useful for stimulating deep muscles such as multifidi where one cannot directly palpate or compress them.
